Oak Alley Plantation Tour

The story of this National Historic Landmark begins with the trees.

In the early 1700’s an unknown settler planted 28 evenly spaced oak trees in 2 rows leading from his humble cottage toward the Mississippi River.

In 1839, Jacques Télésphore Roman, a wealthy Creole sugar cane planter, lured his young bride from New Orleans to the plantation by building this spectacular mansion.

The opulence of her home has been authentically restored to its original grandeur.

Enjoy Oak Alley’s beauty and dream of her rich past while you step back in time as we tell you of Jacques’ struggle between his love for the land and his love for his wife.
